The number of American adults calling themselves Republicans was at an all-time high in December as it increased by a point to 37.0%. In contrast, the number of people who call themselves Democrats fell by a point to 33.7%. This marks the largest number of Republicans in the nation since December 2004 and the lowest number of Democrats recorded since November 2002.
The number of Democrats peaked at 41.7% in May 2008 and fell below 35% in September 2010. For Republicans, the peak occurred in September 2004 at 37.3% and after that, the number of Republicans remained between 31% and 34% of the nation’s adults until recently.
If the GOP makes good on its promises to maintain tight fiscal restraints in Congress, maybe we will finally see 4-0!
